Wasco | Mondays – Tuesdays, 3-5pm

 

Meals are for children, ages 2-18, and must be present. Meals are FREE.

Meal service is made possible through a partnership with the California Library Association, Kern County Superintendent of Schools, the California Summer Meal Coalition, and No Kid Hungry.

Participate in a Focus Group!

If you attended lunch at the Arvin, Delano, or Wasco Branch Libraries- we want to hear from YOU

Join us for a focus group to talk about your experience with Lunch at the Library this summer and receive a packed goodie bag full of some incredible cooking necessities!

 

There will be three in-person sessions and one virtual session via Zoom. Online registration is required for the Virtual session, in order to receive the Zoom link. In- Person participants can register via the link below, or by speaking with their local librarian staff.

  • Wasco Branch Library/ In-Person July 19, 11am
  • Arvin Branch Library/ In-PersonJuly 20, 11am
  • Delano Branch Library/In-PersonJuly 21, 11am

Participant goodie bag includes: Sheet Pan Suppers, Children’s Quick and Easy Cookbook, a multi-page bookmark to mark all those tasty recipes, a reusable cotton produce bag, bamboo utensils, and a gorgeous bamboo cookbook holder!
 
ALL in-person participants will receive a participant goodie bag. Virtual participants will be entered into a drawing and three names will be drawn for goodie bags.
 
Space is limited to ten people for the in-person session, so make sure to sign up quick! The Virtual Session has unlimited participation.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program

“The Women, Infants, and Children Program, also known as WIC, is a nutrition education program. WIC helps pregnant women, women who just had a baby, and children up to age 5 eat well, be active, and stay healthy. WIC welcomes dads, grandparents, foster parents, or guardians who care for eligible children. WIC services are provided at no cost to you. Newly pregnant women, including military and migrant families, are encouraged to apply!” (CAPK Program)

Senior Food Programs/ Programas de Alimentos para Personas Mayores

Meals on Wheels

These home-delivered meals are available to persons 60 years or older who are homebound (by reason of illness, incapacitation, disability or isolation) and unable to leave their homes to participate in the congregate meals. (Kern County, Senior Nutrition)

Gleaners Senior Sack Program

Provides a food sack twice a month to registered seniors. Seniors can register at site with one-time $2 registration fee.
