Introducing the NEW Way to Pick Up Your Library Holds!



Now offering a safe and convenient way for you to pick up your "on-hold" items from Kern County library branches.

On Monday, January 10, 2022, the Kern County Library will be retiring its appointment-based curbside service system.
Visitors can still access contactless curbside service through the release of the Kern County Library “Book a Book” system, which will allow individuals to pick up titles through the ValleyCat mobile app.

With Book a Book, you can:

  • Schedule a Time to Pick Up Your Holds
  • Receive Status Updates
  • Grab Bags With Staff-Selected Titles Can Be Requested Online

Here's how to Book a Book:

 STEP ONE 

Find your holds on ValleyCat app. Must have the ValleyCat app to Book a Book.

 STEP TWO 

Not ready to checkout everything? Tell us which titles you want to pickup by selecting items from your holds.

Pick up holds for the whole family by linking their library cards in the ValleyCat app.

 STEP THREE 

Use GPS to let us know your ETA. Select I’m on my way when you are headed over to pick up your items.

Tap I’m here! when you have arrived.

 STEP FOUR 

Receive status updates with staff as they prepare your items and collect your holds.
