National History Day
|

|

National History Day (NHD) is an educational program devoted to improving the teaching and learning of history in American schools. Starting in the fall, students choose a topic related to an annual theme, conduct extensive primary and secondary research, and present their work in original papers, exhibits, performances, and documentaries. These works are entered into competitions in the spring at local, state, and national levels. The program culminates with the national competition in the summer.

The 2008 theme for National History Day is Conflict and Compromise in History. Students may choose to focus on a conflict or a
compromise, but if the topic includes one as well as the other,
the student needs to address both sides of the theme.
More information and resources are available at the official National History Day website.
