Film Showing: PBS's documentary film "the Tuskegee
Airmen: They Fought Two Wars." An inspirational film
about the Tuskegee Airmen, 450 African American aviators
who battled prejudice at home and fought the axis powers
in Europe and North Africa. Originally planned as a military
experiment, the Tuskegee Airmen flew 15,000 sorties and 1,500
missions, and their efforts led to the integration of the

Dramatic
Presentation: The Living History Exhibit. Reenactments
form African American History. Imagine being just a human
possession: no legal rights, physically whipped and abused,
sold at auction to the highest bidder, or killed at will.
Historical scenes from the African American experience -
slavery, Reconstruction, World War II, Civil Rights Movement
- will be brought to life through poetry, music, chants,
dramatic readings, and original writings performed by CEO

Storytelling
Concert: Charlotte Blake Alston Master Storyteller:
Family Storytelling Concert. Charlotte Blake Alston, from
Pennsylvania, is a storyteller, narrator, instrumentalist
and singer who has preformed in venues throughout North America
and abroad. Venues include the John F. Kennedy Center for
the Preforming Arts, the Smithsonian Institution, the Women
of the World Festival in Cape Town South Africa, and many
more.charlotte has recieved numerous honors including the
prestigious Pew Fellowship in the Arts. She holds two honorary
PhD's and received the Circle of Excellence Award from the
Naitonal Storytelling Association. This concert is sponsored
by the Bakersfield African American Read-In Committee, Harlem
and Beyond Planning Committee, and Kern County library. FREE
