A collection of short stories which could be edited with a bit of work, especially the first two, “Shotgun Cheatham’s last night above ground’ and “The mouse in the milk.” The first deals with the children seeing their first corpse and grandma spinning a tale to satisfy the nosy out-of-town newspaper man. In the second, grandma effectively squelches the town hoodlums when they blow up her mailbox and the neighbor’s privy. For older children; grandma is quite a character.
