Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Request

Through interlibrary loan service (ILL), library patrons can gain access to materials not available in Kern County and San Joaquin Valley Library System (SJVLS) libraries. While the ILL office is not always able to get a requested item, the staff will always try to obtain it.

The following apply to ILL loans:

  • You may make up to 5 requests per day.
  • ILL items cannot be renewed.
  • Requests take at least 2 weeks to obtain. The Library cannot guarantee a delivery date.
  • The loan period for each item is based on Kern County Library's due date from the lending library.
  • Media such as DVDs, CDs, and Cassettes are not available through ILL.
  • A fee of $5.00 will be applied per request beginning 1/4/2007.

To make an ILL request, please complete the form below. For additional information about ILL, please contact Mikel Herriott at (661) 868-0779.

Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions

The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
