Reference Services
Beale Memorial Library has the largest collection of reference materials. These include business directories, telephone directories, government documents, selected California codes, auto repair manuals, medical information, pamphlets, college catalogs and selected legal resources.
The Reference Desk is located on the second floor, and is staffed with professional librarians.
The library subscribes to major newspapers and periodicals, both in paper copy and on microfilm. Microfilm reader-printers are available in the Microform Room.
Public access computers and electric typewriters are available. Copy machines are located throughout the library.
Reference materials cannot be checked out.
Many local branches also have excellent reference collections.
Reference services outside of the San Joaquin Valley Library System are subject to fees as established by the Kern County Board of Supervisors.
For options to ask reference questions by phone or internet, please go to the Ask a Librarian page.
